Catalog Book and Box

This assignment to design a muesum catalog for a smithsonian institution challenged my design skills as I thought about how elements could translate across multiple components. The exhibit featured it 'Systems at Work' which is housed within the National Postal Museum. The exhibit travels through time explaining the processes in which mail has been delivered. I wanted the product to feel like something you could get in the mail, but also more luxorious and refined. I used materials that had similar textures and feels to traditional packaging materials however, they are more robust and durable (ex. cardboard box translated to a bookboard box wrapped in bookcloth). This resulted in a satisying product. For the catalog itself, I focused on introducing texture and strong hiearchy. This translates to a feel of industry and order just like our postal system.
